Tax reserve$0.0027.4% of every payment, to the cent
Yours to spend$0.00Safe to use today

Example: three payments land in an ExactSplit Wallet and each is split at a 27.4% set-aside rate. $1,920.74 goes to the tax reserve and $5,089.26 is yours. Illustrative figures.

Three things that go wrong every year. Fixed.

no.april.surprise()

The April surprise, gone

Every deposit gets an exact reserve amount derived from your real safe harbor, not a 30% guess. You know what you owe in March, not on the day it is due.

reserve.isThere()

The money is actually there

Knowing the number is not having it. We watch your reserve account, net out payments you have made, and when it falls behind we propose one transfer for the gap. You approve it, move it at your bank, and we confirm it when the deposit lands.

paySelf.safe()

Know what is yours to spend

Between deadlines the question is not what you owe, it is what you can take. Operating balance, less tax not yet set aside, less the bills about to hit, less a buffer you choose. One figure, updated every sync.

Watch it work.

Your accountant, in the loop. A question on the row it is about, an answer where it sits, and a quarter signed off.

The 30% rule costs you money in both directions.

It was never a tax rule. It was a guess, and for most people it holds back far more than they owe, all year, earning nothing. Your number depends on your income, filing status, state, retirement contributions and last year's return. We compute it from your actual transactions. You keep the difference.

Then it finds the money you are leaving on the table.

A calculator is a one-day product. This is the rest of the year: the contributions, the entity decision, the deductions with evidence. Every feature in detail →

Tax engine

2026 tables, cited to the source

Brackets, SE tax, the wage base, §199A with the SSTB phase-out and the OBBBA $400 floor, the $400 SE-tax cliff, both safe-harbour tests. Every constant carries its Rev. Proc. or Notice.

Retirement

SEP and solo-401(k), solved exactly

Each account against its own statutory limit, the circular employer contribution in closed form, the shared §415(c) ceiling, catch-ups by age, and an optimiser that re-runs the whole engine to show what one more dollar actually saves after the QBI clawback.

S-corp

Crossover, in both directions

Employment tax saved, real costs subtracted, and the §199A effect modelled whichever way it cuts. Break-even at your own salary ratio. Always flagged for a CPA, because it's a structural decision.

Mileage

Priced by trip date

2026 split mid-year; every trip is rated by its own date with the citation attached. All four §274(d) fields required, because an incomplete trip isn't a smaller deduction, it's none.

Accountant

A finished file, not a shoebox

Invite your accountant by email. They get a private link, no account needed, and see the quarterly figures, the reserve, and the business transactions. They can ask about any row, request a document, and sign off each quarter. When a number moves after they approved it, you both see it.

Real estate

A workflow built for agents

Commission income recognised at the net amount, MLS, E&O, lockbox and showing services classified without being taught, and a closings pipeline: each pending closing raises the projection and the set-aside rate before the check arrives, and drops out the day it lands.

Bookkeeping

Books you never have to do

Read-only bank feed in, classified books out. Every transaction judged against your trade, a rule table that learns your merchants, mileage that meets IRS substantiation, and a Schedule C file your CPA can work from.

Assistant

Ask your books

"What did my Bali trip cost?" Trips are inferred from your ledger, not typed in. The assistant picks a query and narrates tested arithmetic. It never does the sums itself, and it never gives advice.

January

Schedule C working papers

Line-by-line Part II, a mileage log, and every transaction with its assigned line, as CSV and printable. The caveats are written into the file, for the CPA who never saw the app.

Wallet

Somewhere apart for the reserve

Optional. Open a wallet from the dashboard, verify once, and keep your tax money apart from everyday spending. Deposit from your bank and withdraw back to it, and if you need more: send money, convert to crypto, issue cards and take payments. Held by Whop's partner banks, never by ExactSplit.

Built like it holds your bank data. Because it does.

0payment rails of our own. The optional wallet runs on Whop's; everything else you move at your bank.
AES-256GCM encryption on bank tokens at rest. Never logged, never returned by any endpoint.
Read-onlyPlaid access. We never see your bank credentials.
780+automated checks on the tax maths and tenant isolation, run on every change.

Questions

Does it move my money?

ExactSplit itself does not. When your reserve falls behind it proposes a transfer; you approve it and make it at your bank, and it is marked funded when the deposit appears. If you open the optional ExactSplit Wallet, deposits and withdrawals there are carried out by Whop and its partner banks, inside the wallet page, only when you start them. The one exception is auto-split, which you switch on yourself: when a payment lands in your wallet, ExactSplit moves its tax share to your own tax wallet, and you can switch it off at any time.

What is “safe to pay yourself”?

The amount you can move to personal today without touching tax or upcoming bills. It is your operating balance, less tax owed so far that is not already in the reserve, less recurring bills due in the next 30 days, less a cash buffer you set. It is recomputed on every sync and shows how old the balances are.

Can my accountant use it?

Yes. Invite them by email and they get a private link with no account to create. They see the quarterly figures, the reserve status and the business transactions, never balances, personal rows or your bank login. They can ask about a transaction, request a document, and approve each quarter. Revoking the link takes one click.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is an estimate built from your own transactions, with every approximation surfaced in the app and in the export. Anything above the §199A threshold, and anything structural like an S-corp election, is flagged for a CPA. An accountant's approval inside the app is their sign-off, not ours.

Who is it for?

US sole proprietors filing Schedule C. There is one built-in workflow so far, for commission-based real estate agents, with a closings pipeline and the trade's merchants already known. Everyone else tells it their trade and deductibility is judged against that; more packs follow where the workflow is genuinely different.

How does it connect to my bank?

Through Plaid, read-only. Access tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, never logged, and never returned by any endpoint. Removing a bank calls Plaid's /item/remove so the connection is genuinely gone.

What does it cost?

$249 a year, or $29 a month if you would rather. The free tier is the estimate from figures you type; connecting a bank is where it becomes real, and that is the paid line. Founding members on a code keep everything free and their price when it ends.

What is ExactSplit Wallet?

An optional wallet, opened from your ExactSplit dashboard, for keeping your tax reserve apart from everyday money. It is provided by Whop, a technology platform whose partner banks hold the funds; ExactSplit never holds your money, and any savings account works just as well. Full disclosures are at exactsplit.com/wallet-terms.

Stop guessing what is yours.
